In 1997 we came to Cullenstown for a couple of weeks on holiday and fell in love with the location, so much so that we ended up buying the cottage we rented.
Besides the beach which is across the road from the house, the village also has a Pub. Cullens pub is unusual in that it has never opened before 9 o Clock in the evening, but hey, we have a pub we can walk to, how good is that?
The area has a lot going for it. Our family loves the country and as we are from Dublin, being down in Wexford, whether its a week end or a week, we are on our holidays.
Places we constantly visit are the Hook Head lighthouse, here, numerous times during the year they run events which often include the lifeguard displays and local crafts people showing off their wares.
Duncannon is rare village with a mile long beach, some pubs and one with a stared restaurant of renown.
Tintern Abbey is an amazing old Castle and Monastery owned by the Colclough family which is open to the public. In the last few years they have opened up the walled garden and it is probably one of our favourite places, it changes with the seasons.
Fettard on Sea also has beautiful beaches and can be busy in the summer with all the local Caravan parks but still worth a visit for the beaches and a visit to Nevills Bar for some quality food.
During the Summer months all over the county, they have Field Days, these can include anything from Vintage car displays, Dog shows, Helicopter rides, Duck races, Steam engine trashing etc. Check local papers for more information or check out the attached list for more information.
